Frequently asked questions

These are the frequently asked questions as they were when the program was released. The version at the website (in the documentation section) might contain more recent information.

When windows starts up or when I start the program I get a message saying that Puac didn't exit properly.
You are asked if you want to continue starting Puac. This is a built-in safety. If Puac sounded an alarm that for some reason crashed the system, the chance exists that it will crash again when you restart Windows and Puac. In most cases you can just continue to start Puac, because the crash was caused by another program. When you continue, you are asked if you want to start in safe mode. This will block all alarms and prevent plug-ins from loading. You need to restart Puac to get out of safe mode.

When windows starts up or when I start the program I get a message saying that Puac ran very shortly.
You are asked if you want to continue starting Puac. This is a built-in safety. If you accidentally set an alarm to shut down the computer every 5 seconds, your system might become unusable. You are asked if you want to start in safe mode. This will block all alarms and prevent plug-ins from loading so it allows you to change the wrongly set alarm. You need to restart Puac to get out of safe mode.

I have registered but I didn't receive a serial number.
Please contact me if you didn't receive a serial number within 48 hours. Please contact me again if I don't reply within 48 hours from that.

How do I register?
The registration process is explained step-by-step at the Puac website: http://www.puac.net/register.html.

What do I get when I register?
You get a serial number for all versions of Puac. Every now and then the new version requires a new serial number. You will receive this new number automatically or you can request it if you didn't receive it.

I changed my e-mail address.
Please contact me.

What does the program do with my e-mail address when I enter it in the registration window?
The registration code is based on your e-mail address. The program needs the e-mail address to check if the registration code is correct. It doesn't do anything else with it.

What information does the program send over the Internet when I check for updates?
The program doesn't send any information over the Internet. A file with version information is retrieved from a server and the program compares this information with its own version.
